POKOTABI / Tohoku Gyoza-ro
東北餃子楼
Tohoku Gyoza-ro serves hearty Chinese dishes, including mala xiang guo packed with beef tendon, potato and glass noodles, as well as hot and sour soup noodles and fried rice. There are also all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink options, with choices ranging from lunch sets to dinner.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
The mala xiang guo with beef tendon and potato gives a sense of the range at Tohoku Gyoza-ro. One diner’s order also included glass noodles, Chinese cabbage, celery and wood ear mushrooms, with the heat of mala spices balanced by cumin. It was a substantial dish: one reviewer said there was still plenty left even after ordering a large serving of rice. It is a good option when you want a filling meal with rice, and reviewers describe the spice as pronounced—appealing if you are seeking a properly spicy dish.
For lunch, diners who ordered the hot and sour soup noodles reported that they arrived piping hot and in a generous portion; if you also plan to have dumplings, sharing may be a good idea. You can make the noodles the centre of the meal, or add dumplings and other dishes to share, depending on your group and appetite. There are several fried rice options, too. One report describes the char siu fried rice as moist, with the saltiness of the barbecued pork shaping its flavour. The shrimp fried rice, meanwhile, was said to contain plenty of shrimp and have a mild seasoning. Choose according to the ingredients and flavours you are in the mood for.
An all-you-can-eat menu is offered regularly, and there is also an all-you-can-drink option. Alongside ordering individual dishes, groups can choose these options to try a range of dumplings and other plates. Lunch menus are available as well, making it possible to opt for noodles or fried rice during the day and dishes with drinks in the evening.
